Increasing physical activity:
First of all parents needs to be ready to make the changes themselves. If they are not ready or willing to make the changes, it will be difficult to help their children with childhood obesity.
- Include small thing into your daily routine
- Encourage children to do chores around the house
- Encourage your children to spend lesser time in front of television or computers
- Go on a family outing like trekking which involves physical activity.
- Enroll children in some dance, karate or any classed involving physical activity. Make sure they enjoy what they are doing.
- Involve children in tasks like walking the dog.
- Take them for a walk after the dinner
- Parents should also limit the time spend in front of television, computer or playing video games.
- Encourage children to play outside, ride a bike, skating etc.
